Deer Valley Resort in Park City, UT announced Monday that it has been purchased by a newly-formed, large multi-resort company. The yet to be named Denver-based partnership between Aspen Skiing Company and KSL Capital Venture announced earlier this year that it had acquired Intrawest Resorts Inc., Mammoth Resorts, and Squaw Valley Ski Holdings. In total the new company brought 12 resorts under one umbrella. Deer Valley is now the 13th resort in one of the largest portfolios of North American ski resorts.
Solitude Mountain Resort is not part of the deal. Deer Valley purchased Solitude Mountain Resort in 2015 and in a statement, Monday, said that it will continue to be owned by Deer Valley Partners.
Adding Deer Valley to its portfolio gives the new ski company a valuable foothold in Utah for the multi-resort pass market. Although they have not yet announced plans to bring all 13 resorts under one pass, there is a lot of speculation that a multi-resort pass is inevitable. For the 2017-18 winter season, Deer Valley will continue to honor the existing pass products that are currently on sale.
