While most of us are still in summer mode, a few lucky skiers and snowboarder in Europe are getting a head start on winter.
Two European ski resorts in Austria plan on opening THIS WEEKEND after a huge, earlier-than-usual storm in the Alps.
Pitztal Glacier and Stubai Glacier ski areas have both announced to start turning the lifts at 8:30am on Saturday, 16th September (if conditions allow).
“In a few days it starts again – Saturday, 16. September 2017. It looks really wintry out on the roof of the Tyrol,” said Pitztaler Gletscher.
Pitztal is located on Tyrol’s highest glacier, known for its fantastic powder in spectacular alpine scenery. Today, the resort received 4” of fresh snow with a depth of 12”. It’s expected to dump another 12” of snow over the next few days.
Stubai Glacier, also opening September 16th, is also having a great start to the season. Since September started, the resort has already recieved 25”.
